LAS VEGAS (May 7, 2005) – Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., won his fifth THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series race at Sam Boyd Stadium in front of 39,106 fans. Suzuki’s Davi Millsaps, of Cairo, Ga., won his first Dave Coombs Sr. 125cc East/West Shootout.

Honda’s Damon Huffman, of Valencia, Calif., earned the $1,500 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award in the 250cc main event. Honda’s Kevin Windham, of Centerville, Miss., moved into the lead on the opening lap. Carmichael, who clinched the THQ AMA Supercross Series championship last week, started in sixth place. On lap 15, Windham crashed in the whoop section, falling back to third place. Reed held on for the win, Carmichael finished second and Windham third.

“Things worked out well tonight,” said Reed. “I wanted to win this race and end the season on the high note. I learned a lot this year about myself as a person and as a leader. The team worked really hard this year, and we held our chins up high.”

In the Dave Coombs Sr. 125cc East/West Shootout, KTM’s Jay Marmont, of Murrieta, Calif., earned the $1,000 Butterfinger Crisp Holeshot Award with Yamaha’s Brock Sellards, of Sherrodsville, Ohio, and Millsaps in tow. Millsaps moved into the lead on the opening lap and led the entire race. On lap 6, Kawasaki’s Grant Langston, who won the 125cc Eastern regional 125cc championship, moved into second place, passing Suzuki’s Broc Hepler.

“I didn’t get that bad of a start tonight, and I wanted to get up to the front as soon as possible and start to pull away,” said Millsaps. “I have been working really hard at my house training for this race, and I am happy that I won tonight.”

Tonight’s race will air on ESPN 2 tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. (EST).
