Reed Takes Second Win of the Season
Tedesco Keeps Perfect Record with Anaheim Victory
ANAHEIM, Calif. (January 17, 2004) - Yamaha’s Chad Reed, of Dade City, Fla., won his second THQ World Supercross GP/THQ AMA Supercross Series race at Edison International Field in front of 43,602 fans. Kawasaki’s Ivan Tedesco, Albuquerque, N.M., won his third consecutive THQ AMA Supercross Series 125cc Western Regional race of the season.
Suzuki’s Nick Wey won the $1,500 Butterfinger Holeshot Award, leading Ernesto Fonseca and Kevin Windham through the first turn. Honda’s Windham, who won last week’s race in Phoenix, moved into the lead on lap one. Reed, who started in fifth position, moved into second place on lap three and followed Windham for the next seven laps. After a series of passes between Windham and Reed, Reed held the lead. Windham was second and David Vuillemin third.
“This was the cleanest race I have ever been in,” said Reed. “I was behind Windham for those laps, looking at the lines he had. He had some great lines, and I was able to take advantage of them.”
In the 125cc main, Yamaha’s Bryan Johnson earned the $1,000 Butterfinger holeshot Award with Travis Preston, Nathan Ramsey, Stephan Roncada and Ivan Tedesco close behind. Tedesco, who won both races on the season, moved into second place on lap two and then moved into the lead on lap 12. On the same lap, Roncada also made his move around Preston and into second, but Preston returned the favor and reclaimed his position. Tedesco won, followed by Preston and Roncada.
“I didn’t have the start I needed, but I came through and won,” said Tedesco. “Everyone said I couldn’t win if I didn’t get a good start, but I proved them wrong tonight.”

THQ World Supercross GP is a 17-round global series that is produced and promoted by Clear Channel Entertainment and Dorna Off Road S.L. Riders must compete in the international rounds to be eligible to win the world championship.
