  • The first points-paying AMA Supercross event was held on March 9th, 1974 in Daytona, Fla., and Pierre Karsmakers won on a Yamaha.
  • Later that year, Karsmakers went on to win the first-ever AMA Supercross Championship.
  • Since 1974, there have been 470 rounds of AMA Supercross.
  • There have been 48 different riders to win an AMA Supercross main event.
