AURORA, Ill. (May 4, 2006) – Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series Stats for Las Vegas.

 

AMA Supercross Class

First race, March 17, 1990, Jeff Matiasevich won.

First time winners: Matiasevich: ‘90; Larocco:’91; Emig:’95

Jeremy McGrath won his first ever supercross race in Las Vegas in the AMA Supercross Lites class in 1990.

In 1995, McGrath sat out of the main event when the lights went out, and Jeff Emig won his first AMA Supercross race.

In 1997, Doug Henry gave the newly developed 4-stroke motocross bike its first-ever AMA Supercross win.

AMA Supercross wins by brand in Vegas: Yamaha: 7; Honda: 5; Kawasaki: 2; Suzuki: 1

Since 1974, there has never been a tie in the AMA Supercross points standings headed into the final round until this year.

McGrath won three races in a row in the AMA Supercross Lites class from ‘90-‘92. He won three in a row in the 250 class from ’98-‘00. He has 4 total 250cc wins in Las Vegas.

James Stewart now has 10 career AMA Supercross wins. He is tied with Broc Glover and Mike Larocco.

Carmichael has two Las Vegas wins in his career ‘01-’02.

Chad Reed has two Las Vegas win in his career ‘03&’05.

AMA Supercross Lites:

Grant Langston became the third rider to win both coast regional championships. He won the East in ‘05 and the West in ‘06. The other two riders were Fonseca and Stewart. Fonseca won the East in 1999 and West in 2001, then Stewart won the East in 2004 and West in 2003.

Since ‘97 the regional champion of AMA Supercross Lites East or West has won the shoot-out four times: Stewart:‘04; Ramsey:‘99, RC:’98; Windham:‘97

Kawasaki gets earned its 99th AMA Supercross Lites win, its 16th AMA Supercross Lites title, and fourth consecutive West title. No other brand has done this.

Pro Circuit gets its 13th AMA Supercross Lites title and its 76th win

This is the 10th year of the Dave Coombs Sr. East/West Shoot-out. East has won five and the West has won four.

About Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP™/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series

Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP, produced and promoted by Live Nation is a 17-round global off-road motorcycle stadium racing circuit.
