AURORA, Ill. (April 28 , 2006) – Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series returns to Seattle’s Qwest Field this Saturday, April 29. 

 

AMA Supercross

  • First race, February 18, 1978, Jimmy Ellis won on a Honda.
  • Kawasaki has won the Seattle event five times: ’84; ’86; ’88; ’94; ‘05.
  • Carmichael has 14 podiums in 16 races - 1st in points for the AMA Supercross Series, 2nd in points for the World Supercross GP
  • Reed 14 podiums in 16 rounds - 2nd in points for the AMA Supercross Series, 3rd in points for the World Supercross GP
  • Stewart has 13 podiums in 16 rounds - 3rd in points for the AMA Supercross Series, 1st in points for the World Supercross GP.
  • Reed earned his 25th supercross win in Dallas. He is now 5th on the AMA Supercross all-time win list.
  • Reed is second on Yamaha’s all time AMA Supercross win list; two wins behind McGrath.
  • Reed joins Bradshaw and McGrath as the only Yamaha riders to win at least two supercross races in four consecutive seasons.
  • Dallas was only the second race of the season that Carmichael was not on the podium.
  • From 1978 to 1999, the supercross was held in the Seattle King Dome. This is the second year the supercross will be held at Qwest Field.
  • First time winners in Seattle: Darrell. Shultz:’81; Ricky Johnson:’84; Jeff Ward: ‘84, Larry Ward: ‘90.
  • This will be the 34th time the gate will drop in Seattle.
  • In 1984 Seattle hosted a double header weekend where Jeff Ward and Rick Johnson won their first ever supercross races.
  • Larry Ward won his first ever AMA Supercross race in Seattle (’90) on a Suzuki. Nine years later, he won his last ever race at the King Dome on a Suzuki.
  • Wins by brand: Honda: 16; Yamaha: 8; Suzuki: 5; Kawasaki: 5
  • Last wins by brand: Kawasaki:’05; Suzuki: ‘99, Yamaha: ‘98, Honda: ‘96

AMA Supercross Lites:

  • Wins by brand in Seattle: Kawasaki: 9, Honda: 5, Suzuki: 4, Yamaha: 3
  • Kawasaki now has 98 career AMA Supercross Lites win. Can they get a 100 before the season is over?
  • Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto stopped the Honda win streak. They won their fourth consecutive race in Dallas event.
  • Kawasaki won the first ever AMA Supercross Lites race in Seattle in ‘85. Kawasaki also won the last 125cc race held in the King Dome in ‘99. It was won by Nathan Ramsey. Kawasaki also won Seattle last year at the new Seattle venue.

About Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP™/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series

Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP, produced and promoted by Live Nation is a 17-round global off-road motorcycle stadium racing circuit.
