AURORA, Ill. (March 16, 2006) – Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series returns to Orlando’s Citrus Bowl this Saturday, March 18.

  • This is the 12th time the gate will drop in Orlando.

  • The first race was held on June 11, 1983. Ron Lechein won on a Yamaha. At the time he was the youngest rider to win an AMA Supercross race.

  • First time winners: Lechin-1983, Lusk-1997.

  • Wins by brand: Honda-5, Yamaha-4, Kawasaki-2, Suzuki-0.

  • Rick Johnson won his second career AMA Supercross at Orlando in 1984.

  • Bob Hannah broke his wrist in practice on June 11, 1983. There were only four races left in the season. David Bailey went on to win the title.

  • Mike LaRocco had back-to-back wins in Orlando in ‘92 and ‘93.

  • Jeremy McGrath won three races in a row at Orlando in ‘94 - ‘96.

  • Orlando hosted the opening race of the AMA Supercross season from 1991-1996.

  • Carmichael won his 46th win at Daytona last weekend and his 13th on a Suzuki.

  • This is the fourth time during the season that the points lead has changed. Carmichael passed Reed for the AMA Supercross points lead.

  • Can Carmichael give Suzuki its first win in Orlando?

  • There were no races held in Orlando from 1998-2004.

  • Michael Byrne earned his first-ever podium last week in Daytona.

  • Can James Stewart win an AMA Supercross race in his home state on a 450? Last year he finished third in Orlando coming back from an injury.

  • Honda’s Davi Millsaps won his third race of the year. Honda has now won five AMA Supercross Lites races in a row.

  • Millsaps won Orlando last year on a Suzuki. Brian Swink is the only rider to win Orlando on two brands, can Millsaps join him?

  • Wins by brand: Suzuki-5, Honda-2, Kawasaki-2

About Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP™/Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series

Amp’d Mobile World Supercross GP is a 17-round global off-road motorcycle stadium racing circuit. Riders must compete in the international rounds to be eligible to win the world championship.
