Three Monster Energy
Kawasaki riders will be trading in their familiar green and black graphics for
red, white and blue as James Stewart, Timmy Ferry and Ryan Villopoto have been
chosen to represent the USA at the Motocross of Nations at Donington Park in England.Monster
Energy Kawasaki team manager Mike Fisher, Its an honor to have just
one of our riders invited to the Motocross of Nations. But to have all three riders
on Kawasakis is amazing. It just shows the dedication our teams have to
being the best and the talent of our riders.
Stewart
will be making only his second appearance at the prestigious international event.
Stewart and Villopoto were teammates in 2006 when Team USA took the win at Matterly
Basin in England. After winning every moto to date during the AMA Toyota Motocross
Championship, Stewart will captain the team and compete in the MX1 class.
I
know this is a good team, said Stewart. Im glad I was able to
prove myself so I could get picked for the team. Im ready to keep Team USAs
winning streak alive.
2008
marks Ferrys third time on the team. Last year Ferry took the MX3 Championship
at Budds Creek, Md. with two exceptional victories on the Kawasaki KX450F
to help Team USA grab its third straight win in the event. Ferry will look
to defend the MX3 title when the team hits the track in England. Ferrys
last race outside of North America was in Zolder, Belgium in 2003.
Its
every riders dream to race at the Motocross of Nations, said Ferry. This
is my fourth invitation for the team and it is always a great feeling. Im
really proud to be chosen to represent the United States again.
As
the two-time defending AMA Motocross Lites Champion, Villopoto made his name internationally
known at the 2007 Motocross of Nations by winning two motos on his Kawasaki KXKX250F.
On his way to winning the MX2 Championship, Villopoto beat riders from both the
MX1 and MX3 classes leaving the event as one of the fastest riders in the world.
Im
happy to be back on Team USA, said Villopoto. Im excited because
I get to ride a track Ive never ridden before. It was a fun experience the
last two years and Im just glad to be a part of the team again this year.
In
his final AMA Motocross Lites season, Villopoto currently holds a 103-point lead
in the championship standings riding for Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki.
His third straight selection to Team USA not only recognizes his talent, but also
the strength of the team he rides for.
Im
really happy Ryans last 250F ride will be at the Motocross of Nations,
said Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team owner Mitch Payton. Ryan has
been a great rider for us the last three years and it is only fitting that he
finishes his remarkable AMA Motocross Lites career representing his country.
Team
USA will look to extend their streak to four straight Motocross of Nations titles
on September 27-28.
