Hundreds of fans, friends, and industry personalities turned out Thursday,
July 26 for the unveiling of "The Nac-Nac," a bronze statue dedicated
to the King of Supercross, Jeremy McGrath. The ceremony was held at the AMA's
Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum in Pickerington, OH where it will remain on display
for many years to come.
"It is a great honor to be immortalized with something like this,"
McGrath said. "When Live Nation first came to me with this idea directly
following my retirement, I couldn't believe it." The sculpture, commissioned
by Live Nation and created by artist Steve Posson, "
turned out amazing!"
according to Jeremy.
The Nac-Nac, Jeremy's signature move, involved him throwing his right leg back
and over to the left side of the motorcycle while in the air. "The first
time I saw him do it, I thought he was jumping off the motorcycle," stated
Roy Janson, Vice President of Operations at Live Nation Motorsports. When asked
by Larry Myers why and how he decided to do the Nac-Nac for the first time,
McGrath replied, "I just got bored and wanted to have some fun." Jeremy
was joined at the ceremony by his father, mother, sister, wife and two year
old daughter.
