Miss Supercross Casey - Las Vegas
Casey Edmondson

May 2nd, 2009, history would be made. Las Vegas here we came. This was going to be the biggest night of the whole Monster Energy® Supercross season, and I was so excited to be a part of it. I was ecstatic knowing my family was going to be there with me. We drove up on Friday afternoon and arrived in Las Vegas around 4:00 p.m. The traffic was insane. I knew Vegas was a crowded place, but you could tell that Monster Energy® Supercross was in town. I arrived at the Monster Energy® Supercross sponsored Plant Hollywood hotel after about an hour of traffic, and headed to Carter Motorsports with the Troy Lee Designs team for an autograph session. This was such a cool experience. I was just hanging out and people from all over the country were there. As soon as the autographs were over, we went to the New Orleans Arena to watch Mini Moto. I had always heard about this but have never been. It was so funny! People were going down left and right. Just to see those grown men on the tiny bikes was hilarious. I never realized how big of an event this was! It was completely sold out. I left the arena around 11 pm and it was off to bed for me. It was going to be a huge and exciting day tomorrow.

Saturday morning I woke with no hesitation. This was the day everyone had been waiting for. What a perfect day for racing! There was a slight breeze with the heat blazing. While walking the track, I could see the focus in all the riders. I thought it was awesome how the track was laid out. The starting gate was actually outside of the stadium! It was time for me to suit up and go party in the pits.

At about 2:00 p.m. I was told I had my own dating game! I was on a stage blind folded, not knowing who was behind me. Three lucky men where chosen as my Bachelors. I had to ask them each about 4 questions, but in the end could only pick one. The lucky winner got a life size cut out of Ryan Dungey and a backpack full of cool stuff. That was so fun! Soon after that, I got to have my time with the fans. It was crazy how many people I remember seeing from previous Monster Energy® Supercross races! It was so cool that so many people came back to see me for the second time. I was so excited! I have made so many friends during this experience I couldn’t believe it was coming to an end. The day was going by way to fast.

Opening ceremonies was about to begin. What an amazing show. Between the fireworks and the F-18 fighter planes flying over, I was in awe. It was time to race. Lites classes East/West coast shootout was underway. It came down to Christophe Pourcel with the victory. This was not an ordinary trophy. He won a Toyota Tundra truck and an extra $5,000 dollars! He was so excited. Following Pourcel was Ryan Dungey and Trey Canard. It was such an exciting race!

It was time for the Supercross Main event. Who would it come down to? James Stewart or Chad Reed? My heart was pounding and we were finally going to find out who was the overall champ . It was a battle between Ryan Villopoto and James at first, but Ryan rode a smart race for the overall victory. Stewart just had to be in the top 4 if Chad Reed was in front of him to take the overall. James and Chad had a fun battle and James ended with a third place! It was close. Chad Reed took a second and Ryan Villopoto won the race. The crowd went wild and there where tears in all the Team Yamaha San Manuel’s eyes. James Stewart was the 2009 Monster Energy® Supercross Champion. Confetti was in the air and the excitement was insane. It was like a dream come true. I was so excited for James. He deserved it. Not only did he receive the #1 plate but he also won an extra $100,000! It was a job well done.

This Monster Energy® Miss Supercross 2009 experience has been like none other in the world. It went by so fast. It seems like just the other day I received the call that I was the chosen one. I couldn’t believe it then and I still can’t believe it now. I was so fortunate to go have this opportunity and I will carry this experience with me for the rest of my life. I just want to thank the fans of supercross. Without them I wouldn’t be where I am. This whole experience has changed my life. I also want to thank the employees of Feld Motor Sports for giving me this opportunity and allowing me to be apart of such a great organization. My heart goes out to everyone and how hard they work to put on the Monster Energy® Supercross shows every weekend. As for me, I am going to be in Arizona finishing my education and pursuing my other passion of fitness and being a personal trainer. I will be at some of the outdoor Motorcross races and can’t wait to see what happens there. For next year, I guess we will just have to see what happens ;) Thanks again to the fans, friends and family for all the support and love I have received. I am more than honored to have the title of Miss Supercross 2009.

Thank you with all my love,
Casey Edmondson
