For the first time the SX dirt in the Seattle stadium saw drier weather, but the track conditions still ended up being grueling. Debris in the dirt, rocky, deep ruts, and a deteriorating track were some factors that got to the best of these racers. For some, they rose to the challenge and conquered. Also, with dry weather it was the first time that the KTM Jr.’s were able to race in Seattle. These kids were absolutely amazing at how they handled the track. Even with the huge ruts and rocks, they maintained a very fast pace.
I started off my race weekend by attending the second annual Supercross Triple Charity for Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center event with Davi. Millsaps, Short, Villopoto, and Ferry were the riders on hand for photos and to sign autographs and bring joy to the kids. This is such an awesome event put on my MX for Children and Live Nation. It’s cool to see everyone and the riders chip in and help out. The SX industry has a big heart and I was very happy to be at this event. Race day was beautiful! Luck was upon us this year when it comes to the weather. The city of Seattle was buzzin’. Qwest Field had the SX races and Safeco had the Mariners game next door simultaneously. The pits were a big draw for the fans. I watched all the practices with Jackie, Cameron, and Theresa. Since we hadn’t seen the West Lites for a while, I wanted to see how everyone was stacking up. Also, it was crazy watching all the guys take on the track – they were all over the place and many went down trying to grab hold of the strategy of the track. A big talk was Michael Willard on the KTM two stroke, who performed brilliantly. He took the two-stroke challenge and had success. If you haven’t seen a picture of him sporting about the biggest grin you’ve ever seen, you gotta check it out. The two-stroke fans loved it. They thanked Willard for brining back that two-stroke sound. The Lites Shootout is going to be good! After just wrapping up the amazing season on the East in Detroit and then getting a glimpse of what the West guys have been up to in Seattle – all we know is that it is going to be a talent dominated shootout in Vegas.
Stewart Clinched the World and AMA Titles in Seattle. Of course we weren’t too surprised because he only had to get a 9th or better for each of the titles. He maintained his dominance all they way to the end to the celebration on the podium with his team and family. The rest of the SX class is still taking shape and it looks like the other two spaces on the podium are up for grabs. Two new faces joined the podium in Seattle on Hondas. Millsaps earned a well deserved 2nd and Windham took home 3rd. Davi had his best race since returning this season, and also shined in practice. After a bad 1st heat, he made up for it in the LCQ then to a podium the main. He was running the top at the start of the main, then had a crash, but managed to run all the way back up to 2nd. He was jazzed and rode strong all through the main!
I’m geared up for Vegas. I’m going to start the weekend by attending the Carter Powersports Night Out on Friday night! Many are going to be there such as all teams of Honda, Kawasaki, and Suzuki, Carey Hart, The Kawasaki WORCS team, and much more! This is a big weekend in Vegas for Supercross. Be sure not to miss this one! If your not going to be there, make sure to catch it LIVE on SPEED, or the webcast or XM cast to get in on the action.
For those who are going to be ready for SX in Vegas see you in the big pits. See you then.
See you at the races.
