Miss Supercross Brittney - Detroit
Brittney George

With the three week break behind, it was time to get back to racing! I arrived in Detroit Friday morning, caught a bite to eat, and relaxed. Traveling each weekend is awesome, but you get so tired from the flying.  Friday night, Davi, Shane from Amp’d Mobile, and I ventured out into Detroit to grab some dinner. We heard about the oldest restaurant in Detroit, open since 1890. We decided to check it out.  The Roma Café was a vintage treat. This Italian restaurant was located in the old, old down town. Upon entering the restaurant, it even had an old smell, but the food was awesome. I decided to try something I never had before, escargot. It was - pretty good...

Detroit being the last stop for the East rounds, made it extra exciting.  The warm weather brought in many fans. Saturday was not only Supercross race day in town but there was a baseball game, hockey game, and two big concerts. Those events didn’t keep the Supercross fans from visiting the fan experience set up with all of the sponsors and autograph signing.  I was anxious to checkout the track and catch practice. As far as the track goes, the dirt looked like it was holding up and in pretty good condition.  As far as the Lites practice, no single rider stood out as being dominate. Everyone was running on top of their game and during each practice it was different riders in the top 5. So predicting a clear winner was tough.  This is what makes it so exciting for the night show.  Everyone knew that the championship was tight. The three week break was a big deal and gave the guys some time to test and rest in preparation for the championship battle. It was all about calculating the points and making no mistakes. Ryan Morais, Mr. Consistent, only had a three point lead and not one 1st place finish under his belt. Then three points back was the Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki duo of Ben Townley and Darcy Lange. It was all to be laid out in the last round of the East- Detroit. Morais finally got himself a good start, but as he raced toward the Championship, he went down when he stalled his bike and Townley flew by. The other contender of the championship, Lange, had a horrible start with some mishaps, and was far behind with no sights of the Championship. Townley rode smooth to the end with Dungey finishing just ahead of him, but that didn’t matter, Townley was pumped as the big winner- taking home the East Lites Championship.  Townley was all smiles, and it was contagious. During the interview, he absolutely could not stop smiling. It was so cool that his family was there to celebrate with him.  Also, it’s pretty awesome both of the Lites Championships went to Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki.  With the East Lites being a race to the end with lots of talent, and the West being the Villopoto show; who do you think will rise to the top and win the Las Vegas East/West Shootout?

Seattle we get one last chance for the West Lites to go for it even if the Championship has already been claimed. Seattle of course, has rain in the forecast. I am definitely going to throw in my rain boots just in case. Last year it was a total mudfest! I’m looking forward to Seattle. Only two races to go in the ‘07 Amp’d Mobile Supercross season!  It flew by faster than expected. See you in Seattle and cross your fingers for a bit of dry weather.

See you at the races!
