1 LIVE! Last weekend’s Amp’d Mobile AMA SX kick off was an awesome display of physical and mental toughness not to disappoint the fans in the stands and at home! Thanks to Speed, I am sure there were record numbers of fans tuned in to catch all the live action. The opening ceremonies featured some really cool and creative intros for the riders with very impressive fireworks to dazzle the crowd and get everybody pumped. RC received a very well done tribute honoring his accomplishments and contributions to SX. I’m sure many fans were expecting RC to win an Anaheim1, but Stewart came out all revved up and earned the #1 spot. He did it despite a fall where his instincts kicked into make a quick recovery and continue to victory. Reed, with his injury of a separated fractured shoulder, entered the track with sheer determination to overcome the pain and race on. He earned a respectable 3 rd place finish and a Holeshot.

In the West Lites Class, Villopoto started off his new year with a first place victory and not far behind was Christophe Pourcel from France. He was super pleased with his race and holeshot. It wasn’t bad for his first SX in the US. Lawrence is a strong rider and there has been a lot of talk of him lately and he proved his speed by finishing in 3 rd. There is a lot of talent that is going to shine this year in the Lites class, but I have a feeling it will be a battle to the end. We didn’t even get to see the talent of Josh Grant and Tommy Hahn yet. There is more in store.

For me, A1 was non-stop. From the minute of the opening ceremonies, my adrenaline rush begins and it’s show time. It was the first time I had been to A1 with a microphone in my hand. Talk about nerves. This alone adds to the importance of not missing any of the intense race action. Also, I’m thankful for the race action because it’s the time to stay in one spot on the podium to not miss each moto. Between the motos, it’s my time to kick into gear. Not only did I announce the KTM Jr’s, but a highlight was introducing some of the celebrity fans. Anaheim attracts all kinds of SX fans including many pro athlete superstars. I had the awesome opportunity to hang out at the “  Knothole   Club” and introduce a few of those celebrities. Skateboarder Ryan Sheckler, Red Bull Formula One  driver  Scott Speed, and World Champion MotoGP racer Nicky Hayden were among the many. To put it simply, I had a blast.

Ph oenix  is only a few days away and hopefully that time gave the riders some time to prepare both physically and mentally to be on top of their game. 15 or 20 laps on a Supercross track for the main event, after a full day of practice and heats is tough. This is what these talented athletes train and work so hard for. Especially with the A1 track being so hard, this is where the mental game comes into play. The West Lites line up has their second chance to show what they’ve got and the SX class is slowly building momentum as each ride joins the ranks. I think there a still many surprises in store! What’s your take?
