Miss Supercross Brittney - Vancouver, BC
Brittney George

The two world rounds in Canada are complete. It was great to be back in Vancouver. We can analyze what we have witnessed so far, but by far this has been a very impulsive beginning. The race day Saturday was packed with interviews, practice, catching up with the riders, and the big “night” show. As the day progressed, the track became more of a mess. This track was rough and full of large random rocks and tons of loose dirt. You could see the deterioration after each practice and race. This made for quite a challenge and many riders agreed. Also, early in the day, the whoops section proved to be the biggest factor, sending a lot of guys to the ground.

For our SX class it was all about watching RC and Stewart battle it out. While RC and Stewart took the battle for the one and two spots, Reed landed the 3rd place spot. Stewart gave it his all despite his injured right foot. He was actually wearing a larger boot on his right foot to accommodate the swelling. You could tell that each time he landed or came down hard on his foot it was hurting and he was favoring it. He started out great, taking home the Progressive Direct holeshot check, but his lead was getting shorter and shorter as RC was clearly gaining on him. RC caught up quick after his okay start and charged forward in the turn after the whoops, made his pass, and took the lead. RC had an amazing race and was super pumped. He was smiles from ear to ear. Reed, on the other hand, had trouble, but managed to podium. He maintained his positive attitude and acknowledged that this track was a challenge for him. Last year we saw him go through struggles but he maintained consistency, all the way to being a contender in the point’s race.

The two Canadian rounds are a good time for the Lites class to get some hard “practice” in and get ready for the grueling ‘07 season. It gives them a chance to ride and see where they are at, and to get back into that racing pace again. The competition for the Lites class, West and East, is stacked and full of incredible talent. The points don’t go down for anything at the Canada rounds, however we had a few new faces in Vancouver this weekend such as; Sipes, Weimer, Dungey. They mixed up the scene in practice and the main event by challenging the top riders that we saw in Toronto. Sipes had a remarkable practice, showing his speed and he carried it through to the night show taking home the win. Second place went home to the new-comer, Ryan Dungey, who is a new member of team Makita Suzuki. There was a race for the third spot on the podium after Davalos made a little mistake and let the rest of the pack get closer to him. Teammates Osborne and Davalos had to battle each other for third place. Davalos, who had a strong day of practice and strong heat racing, had a tough time after making a mistake. Osborne went by and checked out taking third.

Canada revealed some insight to what the ‘07 season is going to bring us, but still a mystery on who is going to excel and shine. The tensions are running high and the anticipation for A1 is soaring. RC is here for his fare-well tour and still loving every minute of it. He does not lack the drive and will to win. As for everyone else, “game on!” Let the 2007 season begin. Stewart didn’t earn a 1 st place win in the Canada rounds and has to recover from his foot injury. Reed is confident from his win in Toronto and riding aboard his new team. Vuillemin, Ferry, and Wey have showed us they have the speed. Tedesco wasn’t able to show us his racing talent because of his Toronto practice hand injury. Langston will be ready to race at A1 with his debut on the 450 with Factory Yamaha. Windham proved his speed and capability in the outdoors and off season, ready for ‘07. Millsaps who made the move to the big class in outdoors, proved he can run with the top and stir things up. He is speedily recovering from a broken femur and is eager to get back on his Honda for ‘07. We have an awesome array of aptitude, talent and skill in both the SX and Lites classes. 2007 Amp’d Mobile Supercross here we come!

I finish up my final exams this week and then I plan on taking some time off. I am looking forward to the Holidays! I am planning on heading out to Georgia to visit with Davi and spend some time out there. Then I will be home for a while and am hoping to hop on a bike and get some riding time in. I want to wish everyone a very safe and cheerful Holidays and a Happy New Year.

See you at the races at A1!
