Miss Supercross Brittney :: Las Vegas
Brittney George

Live in Las Vegas! The much anticipated Amp’d Mobile Supercross Finals of 2006 was spectacular! The amazing race of Reed, RC, and Stewart went down, but RC and Stewart proved to be a complete class act as they celebrated their one - two finish with both having a championship in their hands for this year! The Lites Class Shootout had a twist of events that led Shorty to victory! This was truly an exciting night. We had it all, the best athletes in the world, most awesome fans and a dedicated Live Nation and Speed staff to bring you the best Supercross ever. The fan base is expanding as the sport goes live! Never has there been so many ways for fans to get their fix of the Supercross action: Live race action at the Sam Boyd Stadium, Live Webcast on supercross.cc.com, Live XM Radio, Live Amp’d Mobile phone cast, and LIVE on Speed! So whether you were on the road, TV-less, or under a rock, there was a media outlet for all tastes. This year Supercross has seen somewhat of a renaissance - a renewal of energy that transcends many seasons and a new beginning of great things to come. I feel this not just because of my job as Miss Supercross, I say this as a fan. You can feel the energy! This in another reason I love the sport so much.

This was my first year to attend the Supercross banquet and again I had the best seat in the house. I had the job of presenting each award. What a spectacular event. The room was fully packed with everyone in the industry. It was a very relaxed environment and a classy evening as everyone was decked out in suits and beautiful dresses. I have to admit the trophies were extremely heavy and I’m thankful I did not drop one on someone’s foot. I stayed poised and held those trophies still, but they gave me a work out when my arm began to shake. ha! Congratulations to all the winners and our champions for the year: Carmichael, Stewart, Langston, and Millsaps. And good job to all the Live Nation staff that did a tremendous job of organizing the event! I was blown away at the production. It was a great way to end the season with the entire Supercross family together.

The season flew by so fast and honestly I would be ready for 10 more races! Some of the highlights for me were being able to be on the podium close to the race action, working with all of the phenomenal Live Nation and AMA staff, meeting and becoming friends with industry people, riders, and of course, the FANS! I want to say thanks to all the supportive fans that read my column and sent me e-mails each week. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to get to know you! The fans are the backbone that keeps this sport alive. As we reminisce on the past, it is time to look forward to the future of Supercross. I’d love to hear your thoughts on the ‘06 Supercross season and what you think of the future!

As I recap the year, it still feels very surreal! I still can’t believe that, me a girl who was once sitting in the stands cheering had this opportunity to stand on the podium soaking up all this sport had to offer and sharing my passion of this sport with the fans. I knew going into this job that I was going to do my best to represent the Supercross in the most classic way. Each and every Supercross race lent an opportunity for me to step into the industry. I want to thank everyone who gave me this opportunity and thank everyone who made it special and memorable for me along the way. A big thanks to: Charlie Mancuso, Roy Janson, Dave Prater, Todd Jendro, Jayme Dalsing, Erin Bates, Erv Braun, Terry Boyd, Cliff and Wes Nobles, Nick Schroth, Donn Meada, Carl Stone, Linda Ardehali , Rupal Gor, everyone at DMXS Radio, Road 2 Recovery, the sponsors, riders and of course my family, and my Mom and Dad. There are so many people to thank. I am happy to say that I will be back again next year for the 2007 season.

I want to say a very special "thank you" to Nathan McQueen for the most special t-shirt I will ever own! A hand-made “showtime” McGrath shirt with a #2 and my last name on the back! This was such a highlight of my day and I very much appreciate it! I had Jeremy sign it and he thought it was so cool. This was such a thoughtful gift! You are awesome! Thank you.

As we head into the National Motocross season from the amazing Supercross season we had, the battles and high action racing isn’t going to stop. I plan to keep my summer busy and hopefully attend as many nationals as I can and other events along the way. Definitely keep in touch and let me know your predictions for the rest of the year. I will see everyone at the races and again back in Vegas for the exhilarating US Open in October.

See you at the races!
