Miss Supercross Brittney :: Orlando
Brittney George

After my amazing day of wakeboarding I was ready for the Supercross races. But when I got to the track it was much like being on the beach again. The track was composed of doubles, triples and whoops of beach sand. This sand made for great roosting conditions and many riders got blasted. Except for James, he claimed the Progressive Direct holeshot and went for the win in Florida ! Many predicted James's win, but we were surprised and excited by the 3 rd place podium finish of Nick Wey. He has proven himself to be the fastest guy out there on a Honda as I mentioned in last weeks report. RC rode strong and charged, but James ran smooth and consistent to the end with a big lead of 12 and a half seconds. He was amazing and it shows how fast Stewart can fly on his Kawasaki .

The East Lites class points leader, Davi Millsaps was excited to be back in his hometown of Orlando where tons of his family and friends live and attended the race. I also got to meet his family, and they are an awesome bunch of people. But in the Lites main event Grant took the win by making a final pass on Millsaps in the whoops. After the race in the press conference Grant told everyone what was going through his mind at that point and he said he knew that Millsap's was fast and strong in the whoops. So he held on, closed his eyes and went for it. Haha. The strategy paid off! As highly skilled as these Supercross riders are, there are those moments I guess, when it's just hold on, gas it and go for it! We will never know. The podium wrapped up with the three guys who have dominated it most of the season: Grant, Millsaps, and Gosselaar.

I had a great day in the pits. The warm weather drew many people to the track early to check out all of the happenings in the pits, practice and qualifying.  I met many new fans but found it interesting that when asked who they were rooting for, many were not sure. At every other Supercross each time I ask that question fans always reply with that favorite riders’ name. Also in Orlando the crowd went wild for the two natives, Ricky and James. But it seemed like James was more of the favorite in Orlando for the fact that he only lives 30 minutes away from the stadium.

I met up with Carey Hart again and got to visit for a while. We all got to hang out and eat at the Red Bull tent and I took a quick picture with Carey, Dano with DVS, and Malcolm with Alpinestars. They are all great guys and fun to hang out with. I also spent some time at the Honda trailer as usual. The guys over there are great and Tom makes a killer dinner every weekend. Haha. I also want to shout out a big thanks to Billy Laninovich and his Dad. Thanks for the cool t-shirt.

At home in Havasu, the WORCS race took place. I got the full race report from my brother and cousins when I got home. My brother crashed in the open race on Saturday morning and messed up his knee real bad. He is going in for an MRI this week to find out the damage. It was such a bummer. He was so looking forward to racing in his hometown race. It also sounded like the Pro-race was very exciting. There was a lot of talk about it. Congrats to the 1-2-3 podium of Alessi, Metcalf, and Hughes. Looks like our Supercross Lites stars are in great shape to handle that 2 hour race. Alessi ran some incredibly fast lap times and Metcalf and Hughes followed him not too far behind. So what are your predictions for the West Coast Lites when we head back to Dallas in a few weeks? Should be very interesting and the shoot out at the finals in Vegas is what we are all looking forward to.

See you at the races!
