Well, after a few terrible weekends, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I've been struggling the last month or so and I really didn't know what to think. I had been working hard as usual but it just seemed nothing was going my way. I wanted to change that.
Practice was good for the most part. The track was awful but I felt decent in both sessions, ending up 14th overall. I just wanted to get into the night's racing with a decent gate pick and a shot at a good start.
I started around 10th in my heat and that's where the war started. I was in a dogfight for all 8 laps. If I wasn't making a pass, someone was trying to pass me. Inside, outside, it seemed there was someone in every line. I held my own in 7th and put it in the main for the first time in a while.
I had a fair gate pick in the main event and was praying to stay out of trouble the first few laps. Unfortunately, I would be tangled up and go down on the 2nd lap with another rider. I was pretty mad and after my mechanic Dan fixed my front end, I tried to just get any points I could. My bars were bent up, making it hard to ride the pace. I went down again, trying too hard to ride my injured scooter. I ended up 19th, not at all what I envisioned but it was a step forward.
This weekend is Atlanta, one of, if not my favorite tracks. I can't wait to get another chance at a good finish, its been too long!
