Vancouver is round 2 of the Amp’d Mobile World Supercross Series. For me, it’s a long trip from Florida after many long trips to Europe during the off season.
Practice was more crucial than Toronto , since there was no Friday practice. I felt terrible in the first session and was 16th overall going into the 2nd and final practice. I knew I had to step it up and was determined to do so. I put in some good laps and saw that I was sitting seventh. I was satisfied with that so I toned it down and waited for the racing.
I had a bike problem on the first lap of my heat and lost too many spots to make up. I missed qualifying by two spots and was lcq bound.
I got a good start in the lcq and was confident I wouldn't have any problems getting to the front. Unfortunately, I got taken out on the second lap and was mired back in 6th. After a few timely crashes, I made it to 3rd with a lap to go. I passed Marsack on the last lap and squeezed into the main.
I rode a smart main event. I knew the track was treacherous and I didn't want to throw points away by being too aggressive. I made passes when I could and moved up to tenth by the end of 20 laps. I was happy to stay up and get good points out of the night.
We have a 3 week break now before Anaheim to make improvements and test. Hopefully it will be a productive break and I will be ready to come out firing.
