Farber Asks - What’s it going to take for Morias to hold on and win this championship? - 3.27.07
Mike Farber

QUESTION:

Back in 1997, Tim Ferry won the 125 East Supercross Championship without winning a single race. Ironically, ten years later Ryan Morais is in the same position in the East Region Lites class this year. The kid doesn’t have a contract on paper and hasn’t made a single mistake this year. Which brings me to this? What’s it going to take for Morias to hold on to win this championship?"

“I really think that it’s possible for him to win the championship. He’s already half way through and he has the points lead. Plus, the kid is riding smart and getting the results.”

“The possibility is definitely there and it’s a numbers game. He just has to ride smart and stay in front of the guy and keep adding to his points lead.”

“I think it’s still up in the air. It only takes one bad race and those points are gone. As long as he doesn’t get to conservative and keeps finishing strong, he will be the champion.”

“He has a few races under his belt and I think the nerves have worked themselves out. If he rides the way he has been, then he shouldn’t have a problem wrapping it up.”

“As inconsistent as the other riders have been, I think he has a great shot at the championship.”

“I really think he can pull it off because he has put in some solid rides and he hasn’t folded under the pressure either.”

“He just has to keep getting good starts and stay consistent. The kid has always been good and now he is healthy.”

“I think it might be tough for him with three rounds left and I wouldn’t count out Darcy Lange. The kid is used to riding under pressure especially with his three arenacross titles. I really think Darcy will be there at the end and it will go down to the last race.”
