QUESTION:

This year, has been a year that we won’t forget! We had a three-way battle for the championship that Ricky Carmichel ended up winning for his 5 th straight Supercross Championship. Speed Channel broadcasted the Vegas race “live” on televison this past Saturday and the race was sold-out for weeks. Let’s see what some of these guys think, this year, will do for the future of our sport? "

COMMENTARY:

John Ewert

“I’m really proud of what Live Nation and Clear Channel have done for the sport. I think the live television will be great for the sport. We can only go up from this point and hopefully it will be well received from the fans and the public.”

“Well, live television is the biggest moment that we have had in our sport. I’m really excited about this because we are going main-stream. I think it’s really good for our viewers because they can watch from their homes to see what’s going to happen this weekend.”

“The whole season has come down to this one race. We have a three-way battle for the championship and you couldn’t have asked for a better season. I think for decades to come, people will be talking about this season. With the race being live on Speed Channel, everyone has a chance to be involved.”

“It will definitely bring more exposure to the sport. You’re already seeing more exposure in USA Today, Sports Illustrated, and Maxim. It’s something that hasn’t happened in the 34 years of the sport. It’s definitely helped out because I hear more people talking about it and a lot of people are having house parties like they do for the Super Bowl.”

“I think it will help us out incredibly, especially if the Speed Channel ratings are really strong and it will hopefullygive us a better TV package for next year. This year has been amazing and I’m glad to be a part of it.”

“I think being live on television opens the doors for people to watch and it will make the sport grow.”

Jeffrey Canfield

“I think with season we have had, it will definitely help the sport grow. Usually we have a two-way battle for the championship and it’s never really that close. This year with the three-way battle the fans have to be ‘stoked’ and this will help our sport especially being on live television.”

“It was good because we got to do a lot of outdoor testing during the week. Then some of my friends and I went to Glamis and did some riding. It was a lot of fun because we got to ride and we didn’t have to work on the bikes.”
