QUESTION:

During the last few weeks, we’ve been talking about the fuel crisis, great moments of being a mechanic, and road-trip stories. So this week, I thought of something that would be interesting to know. What do these guys plan on doing after they retire from motocross? Let’s see what these riders had to say. "

COMMENTARY:

“I would like to go into the restaurant business, and I would also like to help some kids out who are coming up through the ranks with their training and riding, and maybe even do my own schools.”

“I’ve always wanted to start my own clothing company. Not riding gear but a cool, casual line. Something in the skate or motocross industry.”

Branden Jesseman - Yamaha of Troy's #121 Jake Weimer - Factory Connection's #131

“I’ve always thought about teaching kids how to ride; I’m really good at watching people and helping them out with their riding. I definitely want to do something in the sport—maybe some kind of team deal, but we’ll have to see how my career goes!”

“I really don’t know. I’ve tossed around some ideas about doing some real estate or getting into business with my dad. I’m sure I could get some kind of job in the industry but I have a family now, so I don’t think I’ll want to travel as much as I do now.”

Justin Keeney - Team BooKoo's #252 Kelly Smith - Motosport Outlet's #37

“Something in the industry. I would like to make some 50 movies and do some track promoting. I would also like to promote some 50 races and freestyle events.”

“I would like to run a restaurant with my wife. We like to cook, so I think it would be fun. People say its hard work, but what isn’t?”

Willy Browning - Privateer #156 Erik Vallejo - Tamer Motorsport's #58

“I would like to stay in the motocross industry, but I enjoy so many other things. I’m not really sure, but I wouldn’t mind being a test rider. I definitely want to stay active and not sit behind a desk. I guess I’ll race for a couple more years and see where it takes me.”

“Racing has been good to me, but when it’s over I just want to live a normal life. I want to buy my kids a set of golf clubs or a tennis racket and be the best father I can be.”

Clark Stiles - SoCal / DeCal Work's #61 Tommy Hahn - Factory Connection's #42

“Actually, I’m trying to work that out now. I want to have an indoor training facility by my house in Georgia. I’m looking at some commercial property right now.”

Matt Walker - Yamaha of Troy's #122
