Monster Energy Cup to Host Ultimate Fan Experience During Pit Party

Gymkhana Exhibitions With World Rally Car Driver Ken Block, Stunts by Formula Drift Icon Vaughn Gittin Jr., FMX X Games Gold Medalists, Street Bike Stunt Team and a Special Performance by Grammy Nominated Rapper Paul Wall

AURORA, Ill. (October 5, 2012) – Feld Motor Sports^®, is excited to announce special enhancements to the Monster Energy Cup pit party for the second-annual Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on October 20. Enhancements include: Gymkhana exhibitions by world-famous rally car driver Ken Block, Formula Drift icon Vaugh Gittin Jr., an FMX show featuring top X Games medalists, street bike stunt team exhibit and a special performance by rapper Paul Wall.

Headlining the Monster Energy Cup pit party will be Gymkhana demos by Block, of the Monster World Rally Team. Block recently debuted his latest Gymkhana video Gymkhana FIVE, which has received over 28 million views on YouTube. Joining Block is multi-time Formula Drift champion Gittin Jr., in his Monster Energy Falken Tire competition drifting vehicle.

The pit party will also include FMX exhibitions by world-class freestylers and top X Games medalists Nate Adams, Adams Jones, Taka Higashino, Jeremy "Twitch" Stenberg and Blake "Bilko" Williams.  Adding to the excitement, street bike team members Ernie Vigil and Nick Brocha will be hosting a stunt exhibit for the thousands of fans in attendance.

Rounding out the pit party experience will be a special performance by famous rapper Paul Wall in the Monster Energy VIP area.

In addition to the events taking place throughout the day, fans will still be able to check out sponsor and team displays and get autographs from the riders in the pits.

Access to the pit party is free with a valid event ticket. Gates open to the public at 12:30pm.

"This year we wanted to amp up the pit party experience for the fans by adding top-notch performances from world-class athletes," said Dave Prater, director of supercross, Feld Motor Sports. "We are excited to have award-winning rally car driver Ken Block drifting in the pits in addition to an FMX exhibit by the world’s best freestyle athletes. And what a better way to close out the ultimate fan experience than featuring a special performance by rapper Paul Wall."

The 2012 Monster Energy Cup features an all-new track design inspired by five-time Supercross Class Champion Ricky Carmichael. The Carmichael-inspired track design will consist of supercross and motocross obstacles unlike any other racetrack design in the world. New to this year’s track will be a 200’ banked sweeping turn that will be built in the stands, two 11 rider starting gates split by 220’ before they converge at the apex of the 300’ start straight and the joker lane that riders will have to race through at least once during laps 2-10. After racing through these sections of the track, fans will be treated to equally exciting racing lanes that are built into the Monster Energy Fan Zone, which is located outside of the stadium. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and any rider that wins all three Main Events will take home $1 million.
