Nico Izzi Gearing up to Race for the $1 Million Prize at the Monster Energy Cup
AURORA, Ill. (May 3, 2012) – Feld Motor Sports® announced today that Nico Izzi, of Wildomar, Calif., will make his debut in the Monster Energy Cup at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium on October 20.
“The Monster Energy Cup was an awesome race,” said Izzi. “I was unfortunately hurt for it last year, but am excited for it this year. The Monster Energy Cup is going to be good. The track layout was pretty cool, and you can win $1 million, what’s not good about that? October 20, I’ll be there racing for that monster million.”
Izzi joined the Supercross Lites ranks in 2007, and just two races into his rookie campaign earned his first-career podium finish. To date, Izzi has two consecutive third-overall finishes in the Lites division. With the help of four top-10 finishes, Izzi currently sits ninth in the Western Regional Supercross Lites Class point standings in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship.
The 2012 Monster Energy Cup features an all-new track design inspired by five-time Supercross Class Champion Ricky Carmichael. The Carmichael-inspired track design will consist of supercross and motocross obstacles unlike any other racetrack design in the world. More than 200’ of the track will be built into the grandstands, and the riders exit the stadium and race through the Monster Energy Fan Zone outside of the stadium and through the pit area before they catapult back into the stadium. The Monster Energy Cup posts a $250,000 purse with the winner walking away with a $100,000 check, and any rider that wins all three Main Events will take home $1 million.
